MEET URSULA!
Well hello there! My name is Ursula Smith and I am so excited to share my story with you! In 2002, I was diagnosed with type two diabetes after having my son. I've been battling this disease for years, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in 2017 when I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. By 2018, I was legally blind, and by February 2019, I had lost my eyesight completely.
But guess what? I didn't let that stop me from living my life to the fullest! I went to a vocational rehabilitation agency for the visually impaired in the state of Georgia, where I learned how to walk with a cane, use technology, and live independently. With the help of my mentor, who is also blind, I even became a life coach, mentor, and motivational speaker to be more hands on in the blind community!
Through my journey, I realized that there weren't many resources for blind individuals who wanted to have a healthy social life. So, I created a non-profit organization called "Beautiful Blind Angels," where blind and sighted people can come together to celebrate and enjoy life!
